Kano State Deputy Governor and Commissioner for Higher Education, Comrade Aminu Abdussalam Gwarzo, has commended the 16-member technical committee responsible for the establishment of Gaya Polytechnic for submitting their report in line with the terms of reference.
Speaking during the official presentation of the report on Thursday at his office, Comr. Gwarzo assured that the document would be forwarded to Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf for review and necessary government action to facilitate the smooth take-off of the Polytechnic.
He emphasized the Governor’s commitment to education, noting that the administration’s strides are visible across the state and that a new higher institution will soon be unveiled.
The Deputy Governor praised the committee for completing its assignment within a limited timeframe, describing their work as timely and thorough.
Speaking earlier, Dr. Hadi Bala Yahaya, Chairman of the Committee, thanked the state government for entrusting them with the responsibility. He commended his team’s dedication, professionalism, and patriotism throughout the process.
Dr. Hadi revealed that the report includes an academic brief, a draft establishment bill, a physical master plan, and infrastructure proposals for the Polytechnic’s second and third phases.
He also mentioned the committee’s suggestion of a placeholder name, “The Polytechnic, Gaya,” pending final approval by the implementation committee and the state government.
The report also outlines recommendations on infrastructure, academic programmes, governance, staffing, and financial requirements for the institution’s successful establishment.
In a related development, the Deputy Governor received a courtesy visit from the management of the Federal College of Education (Technical), Bichi, led by Provost Bashir Sabo Abubakar.
The team invited the Deputy Governor to serve as a special guest at their upcoming conference themed “AI in Education: Focus on Business and Technology Education.”
Comr. Gwarzo accepted the invitation and pledged the state’s support on other matters raised during the visit.
