The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Sokoto state Council says the union is not in support of the planned nationwide protest.
The State Chairman of the Council, Comrade Abdullahi Aliyu Jungle and as such they called on all their members not to participate in the protest.
This according to him was given the negative aspect of such protests which he said sometimes turn to violence which can cause destruction and loss of lives.
The Chairman however, on behalf of the organized labour unions called on governments at all levels to consider the current hardship being experienced by citizens and come up with various palliative measures aimed at Cushing the effect of the situation.
According to him, the governments could do this by providing food items and other essential commodities and distributing them to people free to scale down the prices of such items in the market for the benefit of the common man.
Comrade Jungle also gave a past mark to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for approving the new national minimum wage of N70,000 which was also passed on Wednesday by the National Assembly.
He said with this development he is optimistic that the new minimum wage would soon be approved and implemented by the State Governor, Ahmed Aliyu given his concern for the welfare of the Sokoto State civil servants.
Also, the state chairperson of the trades congress, Comrade Ibrahim Shehu Abubakar appealed to the Sokoto state government to expand its magnanimity to state civil servants by providing them with some farming incentives as it’s done to some farmers across the state.
He also assured the state organise labour unions’ readiness to continue to pursue the rights of civil servants as enshrined by the law.
