From Muawiya Bala Idris, Katsina
A serving member of the Katsina State House of Assembly representing Katsina Local Government, Hon. Aliyu Abubakar Albaba (APC), has declared his intention to contest the seat in the forthcoming 2027 elections.
Albaba made the declaration while unveiling his campaign council at a meeting held at Murjani Hotel.
He said he resolved to recontest the seat in response to calls from his constituents to continue serving them for sustained development and continuity.
The lawmaker, who is currently serving his second term, stated that he has worked over the past seven years to bring development and protect the interests of his constituency.
According to him, within this period, he sponsored 38 motions that were successfully passed and became laws, adding that they were duly assented to by the executive.
He further revealed that he personally financed projects worth millions of naira to improve the lives of his constituents and address challenges facing their communities.
These projects, he said, include the provision of transformers, boreholes, bridges, and mosques, among others.
Albaba also noted that he facilitated employment opportunities for 22 indigenes of the area as part of efforts to tackle unemployment.
He thanked the people of his constituency for giving him the opportunity to serve and appealed for their continued support to enable him to achieve more.
Earlier, a former Executive Secretary of the Petroleum Trust Fund, Engineer Muhtaka Rabe Darma, described Albaba as a dedicated and experienced lawmaker committed to the development of Katsina Local Government.
He urged party members to support Albaba’s candidacy during the party primaries and the general elections.
In his remarks, a former Executive Director of Minting and Printing, Umar Abbas Masanawa, said he had known Albaba for over forty years, describing him as a God-fearing and trustworthy person.
Our correspondent reports that the event was attended by hundreds of APC members, including past and present leaders of the Katsina Local Government Council.
