A massive crowd of jubilant supporters on Tuesday trooped out to welcome Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf back to Kano following his return from Saudi Arabia, where he served as the Amirul Hajj for the 2025 pilgrimage.
This was contained in a statement signed by the governor’s spokesperson, Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, on Wednesday.
According to the statement, the governor arrived at the Malam Aminu Kano International Airport to a rousing reception from thousands of enthusiastic residents, political allies, party loyalists, youth groups, and cultural troupes.
Supporters waving party flags and traditional emblems chanted solidarity songs and echoed the slogan, “Go Again AKY 4×2”—a campaign mantra calling for Governor Yusuf’s re-election.
The chant echoed across the streets as the crowd marched alongside a convoy of vehicles adorned with banners, posters, and billboards boldly bearing “Go Again AKY 4×2” and other expressions of support.
Major roads across the city were decorated with campaign-themed materials, reflecting widespread grassroots mobilisation.
The welcome procession turned into a city-wide carnival, with residents lining major routes from the airport to the Government House in what appeared to be a strong show of endorsement for Yusuf’s leadership.
The governor, while addressing the crowd, expressed gratitude to the people of Kano for the overwhelming show of support.
He also commended the successful coordination of the Hajj exercise and the safe return of pilgrims from the state.
Governor Yusuf reiterated his administration’s commitment to fulfilling its development agenda, with a focus on restoring infrastructure, revitalising education and healthcare, and promoting social and economic inclusion across the state.
