At least 200 media practitioners are attending a capacity-building training organised by the Kebbi State Government in collaboration with the state Ministry for Information and Culture to enhance productivity and service delivery in affairs of governance in the state.
The training programme with the theme “Using Media for Effective Policy Communication,” held at the Command Guest House in Sokoto State, aims to educate and train social media handlers, influencers and information officers of the Ministry of Information under the media-friendly and conscious Governor Nasir Idris Kauran Gwandu.
In his remarks, the State Commissioner of Information and Culture, Alhaji Yakubu Ahmed Birnin Kebbi, explained that the training was part of Governor Nasir Idris Kauran Gwandu’s promise of building capacity for all categories of staff in the state for optimal performance.
The training is aimed at providing the participants with new knowledge of political communication, public relations strategy, crisis communication as well as ethics, laws and fake news.
While emphasizing the importance of skills and knowledge in effectively disseminating information and developmental projects of the present administration of the governor.
Birnin Kebbi noted that the training is a testament to the government’s commitment to capacity building and excellence in information management, reflecting the Governor’s passion for development and transformation in various sectors.
According to him, the training program which is designed to leverage technology to reach a wider audience and showcase the state’s achievements, encouraged participants to actively engage and learn from the intensive training, facilitated by eminent resource persons.
Earlier, the Chairman of Prime Image Global Services, Alhaji Shuaibu Mungadi, said the training was to train the participants on the rudiments of reportage for the rapid development of the state.

This initiative is expected to unveil opportunities for social media practitioners and information officers to adequately propagate policies and programs as well as the dividends of democracy provided by the Gov Idis-led administration in the state.
